100 Word Hit Review
Ellis turns historian with a down and dirty account of the battle of Crecy. It’s France 1346 and a vastly outnumbered English army turns and fights against the might of the French aristocracy. Confident their superior numbers would win the day they failed to reckon with the humble English longbow.
The background and battle itself is told via one of the English archers whose skill with the longbow was so vital to the English victory here.
Ellis’ tale is embellished by Caceres’ great art that is so dark at times that is almost resembles medieval wood cuttings. Overall, very good.
