HUNDRED WORD HIT #88 - ETERNALS #1

Eternals #1 by Kieron Gillen & Esad Ribic

Ikaris wakes up, meets with fellow Eternal Sprite, tangles with a Deviant in the New York sewers and then discovers that an Eternal has been killed. The issue ends on a cliffhanger with the return of an ultra-powerful foe.

There’s lots of scene setting in this debut issue including the use of Hickman-style maps and infographics hinting at a much broader world for the Eternals with different factions and locations (didn’t Marvel try this with The Inhumans a few years back?)

Ribic’s art is majestic and the aforementioned cliffhanger is enough to get the reader back for more.

Rating 7 out of 10
