HUNDRED WORD HIT #54 - BRITANNIA #1-4

Britannia #1-4 by Peter Milligan and Juan Jose Ryp

Roman soldiers are being killed in Britannia without rational explanation and Emperor Nero is not happy!

After an encounter with a demonic entity in Etrusca (Tuscany) Antonius Axia, famed solider of Rome now in the employ of Rubria leader of the Vestal Virgins, guardians of the secret flame of Rome, is sent to investigate.  And so begin the tales of the world’s first ‘detectioner’

Milligan writes a really entertaining story and Ryp’s art is stunning. Whilst the main narrative focuses on Antonius, the real stars of the book are the stark raving bonkers Nero and the cunning Rubria. Good stuff!
