HUNDRED WORD HIT #53 - DARE #1-4
Dare #1-4 by Grant Morrison & Rian Hughes
Morrison and Hughes give us the story of a retired hero agonising over his actions at war, a missing scientist, an impending election and so called terrorists in the North. There’s barely a Treen in sight, let alone old big head himself The Mekon. Dare’s adversaries now seem much more human than hailing from northern Venus.
The story is perfectly paced over four issues with Morrison portraying the once heroic Dare as a tired old man being swept along by events out of his control. Hughes’ highly stylised art is fantastic. A fitting final story for a very British icon.
