The mysterious Mr Whisper is killing Gotham City crime lords who thought they had killed him years ago, but he’s back with a vengeance. Turns out that Mr Whisper’s cut a deal with El Diablo (the devil, not the DC hero) for near immortality but his payment is coming due. Batman investigates Mr Whisper and his findings lead to an old Franciscan monastery (a definite nod to Name of the Rose) and Whisper’s ultimate plot that involves all of Gotham. Janson’s art is like the cheese to the wine of Morrison’s script. I’ll Whisper it quietly… this is bloody good!
