Q. Where would the CIA test their latest mind control drug?
A. On the unsuspecting population of America.
That’s the premise behind North Bend, a comic I wanted to like far more than I actually did. The opening issue felt confusing as we start with ex DEA agent Brendan Kruge in prison talking to his CIA handler and then cut to a lab accident exposing a scientist to the new mind control drug. The story then jumps to Kruge on an undercover drugs bust and eventually approached by the CIA.
Weirdly Reading issue two and then re-reading this made it make more sense. Maybe they’ve put some of those mind altering drugs in the paper...!
