HUNDRED WORD HIT #175 - EL CAZADOR #1-6
El Cazador #1-6 by Chuck Dixon & Steve Epting
A special double sized 175th Anniversary review!
It is the Year of our Lord, 1687 and pirate Black Jack Tom is the scourge of the Caribbean. After capturing Spanish ship La Miseracordia, Tom makes for port to unload his booty.
But he hasn’t reckoned with Donnessa Cinza, wife of the murdered Captain, who kills Tom’s second in command and takes back the boat promising the pirate crew wealth beyond their dreams in exchange for their allegiance and service in tracking Tom down.
So begins the story of Lady Sin and the El Cazador (The Hunter)!
Lady Sin has to deal with mutinous crew members, British privateers and many other dangers in her relentless hunt for Tom, who also has her son captive. Alliances are formed and broken in Sin’s quest for revenge.
The story is epic and the art is fantastic, with both Dixon and Epting combining to offer a tale rich in detail, character and action.
Sadly the series only lasted 6 issues before falling foul of Crossgen’s bankruptcy and you are left to wonder what would befall Sin and the crew of El Cazador. Perhaps Dixon & Epting could consider a Kickstarter to fly this Jolly Roger once more?
This is almost perfect ‘Me Hearties!’
