HUNDRED WORD HIT #150 - PRINCE VALIANT #1-4

Prince Valiant #1-4 by Charles Vess, Elaine Lee & John Ridgway

As we hit our 150th anniversary milestone, we give you 150 words on the epic of Prince Valiant!

As Arthur falls in battle, evil Witch-Queen Morgause steals both Excalibur and the rightful heir to Arthur's throne, Ingrid, and makes off with them to her lair in the Orkneys.

Both Prince Valiant and his son Arn, make separate journeys north to rescue Ingrid and stop Morgause uniting the land under her ungodly rule.

There's plenty of action as they travel northwards as Morgause is not without allies.  But neither are Valiant and Arn and help will be found in the most unlikeliest of places before the ultimate showdown with Morgause.

Vess and Lee deliver a story of epic proportions, of a nation mourning it's king and trying to maintain everything good he and Camelot stood for.  Ridgway's art is amazing, the facial details are at time stunning and a special mention should be made for the fantastic Michael Kaluta covers which adorn the four issues in the series.

Rating 8.5 out 10
